Idea of the app

Travelers are tired of overhyped places: they are expensive, crowded, and often soulless. People try to fix this in a few ways, but it's not easy.

FOLLOWING INFLUENCERS

Some people find a YouTube or Instagram creator that give better advices. It works, but it takes hours of deep research. Simple PDF-style guides can cost good 20-30 euros.

TRAVEL APPS

Most travel apps are way too generic and shallow, which just leaves you even more frustrated.

UNDERHYPE ROLE

Underhype cuts the noise. It focuses strictly on Sweden and relies on strong editorial reviews, giving you recommendations based exactly on your schedule and trip length.

Idea of the app

I kept the language consistent across the product, chose words people actually use, and avoided abstract terms so users could easily picture exactly what I meant.

The design had to match the product's core philosophy — avoid the mainstream. That's why Underhype intentionally: — Uses a serif font, which is rare for modern interfaces. — Sticks to a local .se domain instead of a flashy one like .ai or .io. — Relies on human editorial vision instead of generic algorithms. — Focuses on mastering one market instead of being an "everything" app.
